Discovery Meeting
Mental health services for children and youth begin by calling CONTACT HN to book a face-to-face Discovery Meeting with a Therapist. The purpose is to hear from you and/or your child about what is going well and what isn’t going so great. It’s a time to talk about what you would like to be different and your ideas to make that happen. It provides a time to explore together service options that fit for you and your family.
Discovery is a step you can take to help you live the life you want to live. We’ll explore the different paths to wellness. Some people might want to use a virtual self-help program while others may find help with a community service that’s a good match. You might decide that working with a HN REACH Therapist or Counsellor to explore possibilities fits best for you and/or your family. You may even find coming to a Discovery meeting is enough as you already have the supports and resources you need.
Whatever you decide, you will leave with a Collaborative Service Guide (a service plan) that records the key points of the conversation and highlights service options, goals and next steps.
Before you come please think about:
- The goals you have and what you are hoping for from the appointment.
- What you want to be different and what you want to stay the same.
- What is working already, even just a little bit?
- If you make one small change today, what could it be?
Hours: Wednesdays: 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursdays: 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Location: Main Office 101 Nanticoke Creek Pkwy, Townsend ON
Eligibility: Children and youth up to 18 years of age who voluntarily agree to participate. Children under the age of twelve, we need the agreement of a parent/guardian. Youth, 12 and older may ask for therapy without a parent being involved.
