TAPP-C Program
The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C) works to prevent fire setting behaviour in children and youth. In this program, the Fire Services of Haldimand, the Fire Services of Norfolk and REACH mental health clinicians work with children, youth and their families to assess, educate, and develop a plan to reduce the risk of children and youth continuing to be involved in fire-related behaviours.

TAPP-C is a voluntary program that has the following components:
  • a fire safety educator will work with you and your family to complete a home fire safety check;
  • a REACH mental health clinician who will meet with you to assess the threat of fire setting behaviour and generate recommendations for addressing these issues;
  • Fire Safety Education Sessions for youth, held at the local fire station, to provide information on the damage the fire can inflict on families and communities;
  • with permission, access and connections to other helpful service providers;
Who is eligible for this program?
Parents, guardians and their children up to 18 years of age, who reside in Haldimand or Norfolk counties may use this program. REACH requires the agreement and participation of a parent/guardian and youths, aged 12 and older, need to consent to being referred to TAPP-C.
