Home Counselling & Supports for Children & Youth Child & Youth Counselling (0-18) In-Home Intervention
In-Home Intervention
The In Home Intervention Program provides intensive support in the home, school and/or community, to help families with children and youth, ages 7-18, that are experiencing significant difficulties in managing their feelings and behaviours.

Usually children and youth that would benefit from this program have been experiencing some significant difficulties in many areas of their life.  Some struggles could include:
  • Risk of separation from family/caregivers
  • Multiple suspensions from school
  • Absolute refusal to attend or produce work at school
  • Harming behaviours (harm to self, harm to other, fire setting)
  • Current involvement in criminal behaviour/criminal system
During the course of this program, which may continue for up to 14 weeks, an In Home worker will work together with your family to complete an assessment and review the types of interventions that would benefit your child(ren) and your family.  Goals are set with you that build on the strengths of the youth, the family and other community supports.  Parental participation and time commitment are integral to the success of the In Home Intervention.

Am I eligible?
Children, youth and families who are experiencing significant difficulties (see above)  and would benefit from an intensive, in home service are eligible.  Families usually need to commit to about four hours a week to meet with the In Home Worker.
